Ekadashi

Ekadashi

Ekadashi is a spiritually significant day observed twice a month during the lunar cycle. For Vaishnavites, it is a sacred time dedicated to fasting, prayer, and remembering Lord Krishna. On Ekadashi, devotees avoid grains and lentils, as scriptures say sin resides in them on this day. Instead, one focuses on chanting, reading scriptures, and performing devotional activities to purify both body and mind.

Fasting on Ekadashi not only benefits spiritual life but also promotes better digestion and physical cleansing. Even if one cannot fast completely, simple Ekadashi food or fruits may be taken. The fast is ideally broken the next day during the correct "Paran" time. ISKCON Dwarka celebrates Ekadashi with immense devotion, including 24-hour Sankirtan and community service.

🌿 What to Do on Ekadashi

  • Wake early, bathe, and remain calm
  • Avoid grains, lentils, and heavy foods
  • Engage in chanting, reading, or hearing about Krishna
  • Break fast during proper time the next day (Paran)
  • Donate generously to serve others in need

Ekadashi is also a time for giving. Donating on this auspicious day creates positive karma and spiritual merit. Supporting ISKCON Dwarka allows your contributions to go toward education, prasadam distribution, temple maintenance, and service to devotees. Donations are eligible for tax benefits under Section 80G of the Indian Income Tax Act.

Whether you choose to offer food, essentials, or monetary support, your kindness on Ekadashi becomes a sacred act — a gesture of gratitude and service to humanity. Lord Krishna Himself blesses such efforts when done with pure devotion and humility.

At its heart, Ekadashi is not just a fast — it's a day to deepen your spiritual connection, purify your thoughts, and uplift your consciousness. By remembering Lord Krishna and serving others, we align ourselves with divine energy and receive His mercy.
