Kartik Maas

Kartik Maas, the holiest month in the Vaishnava calendar, falls in October–November. Known as the Month of Greatness, it is dedicated to deep devotion through nightly holy name sankirtan, lavish altar offerings, and candle-lit prayers after dusk.

Devotees rise early to bathe, chant japa, and read scriptures. In the evenings they light rows of clay lamps (diyas), offering them at home altars and temple shrines in loving remembrance of Lord Krishna’s pastimes in Vrindavan.

At ISKCON Dwarka, the entire precinct resonates with lamps and chants. Devotional melodies fill the air as devotees prepare prasadam and distribute it lovingly to visitors and neighbors. The mood is full of devotion, camaraderie, and spiritual depth.

Srila Prabhupada emphasized Kartik as the most favorable time to accumulate devotional consciousness. Even a little service—chanting, offering lamps, or distributing prasadam—during Kartik bestows immense spiritual benefit that echoes throughout one's lifetime.
